-drums for hire-

"...Gary Williams' inventive drumming is the highlight. He plasters his beats with staccatto double kick flurries and
aggressive hand/foot combos that turn every song into a rhythmic tour de force."
(from Modern Drummer magazine)

. Besides all the Musicspeak activity, I also work with other bands and musicians, when needed! Drums are where my experience started, and I have put together a compilation of songs from my recent past. These are from various bands that I have worked with, to highlight certain aspects of my playing;

*Ability to play 'for the song' and create an appropriate groove.

*Ability to write musical drum/percussion parts without overplaying.

*Ability to keep solid time and meter, with and without a click track, and in multiple time signatures.

*Ability to play in different styles, and to use dynamics, even though a song may (or may not) represent what my personal interests are, they are a demonstration of what is possible.

*Ability to write, arrange, record, perform, produce, mix, and master my own recordings.

*Ability to understand and communicate from a 'multiple instrument' point of view.

This CD is a musical resume, although I customize the song list for each individual purpose. As an independent musician, touring and/or session work is what I am looking for right now.

The music picked for DrumsForHire is mostly based in rock styles, but my background is deep with influences from literally every aspect of music. My experience also includes work with jazz, Latin, funk, electronic/industrial, blues, Celtic, new age, etc, and some elements of these styles can be heard in my playing.

Professional playing started at age 15, and got more serious after graduating from Musicians Institute. Full time work followed with bands; Musicspeak, Slush, Five Seconds Expired, Minimus, Chin Ho, Code Black/Colour Trip (and others) which led to years of experience on the road and to professional recording and session work.

Musicspeak takes up much of my time now, but independent work for individual shows, touring, and/or recording has always been a steady part of my job, has kept me versatile - and more importantly has given me the ability to learn music and song arrangements with minimal time.

I have experience with the business and legal issues with education and experience in publishing, copyright, trademark, performance and recording contracts, liscensing, performing rights groups, Internet law, writing credits/royalties and more.
